Today began with the excitement of going to Toledo. I woke up bright and early and tip toed around the house getting ready as to not wake up my sister...
Backstory: (who, the day before had JUST finished presenting her final project that she's been working on FOREVER to become an architect! She got a nearly perfect score and is now officially a licensed architect! I'm so proud of her!) the rest of my family has been gone this weekend cause they're grape picking! now back to the story...
So I'm being all stealthy right? I'm makin' some breakfast, findin' some hot chocolate mix, getting annoyed that it's behind a bunch of stuff

and won't come out... and BAM! I knock the glass jar of sugar in front of it off and it slams to the floor spilling all the sugar EVERYWHERE across the kitchen and the glass vase container goes rolling across the kitchen floor not bothering to be quiet for my sleeping sister. After about 5 slow motion seconds of extreme horrid loud-ness (yes I'm using that phrase) In a terrified panic, I stood there not daring to breath lest my sister wake up, come in, and see what's happened. Thankfully, she never came in and I tip toed once again to pick up the thankfully in tact vase, sweep up the rest of its contents, and fill it back up with sugar and no one is the wiser or ever will be. But- that's not the end of my misfortunes today. I haven't even left the house yet....
After calming myself, having a nice breakfast, and making it to the bus (in perfect time I might add), the rest of the day went as follows: We had 2 hours on the bus to Toledo and I realized I had nothing to do. Whilst talking to some friends, I had just finished saying that:
At Trout Lake Camp this summer, I'd spent every waking moment devoted and focused on God. Reading his word, teaching it, diving into it, discussing it, and encouraging/ being encouraged with other Christians too! It was as the world was intended to be. But- too easy. I regret to say very much that since coming to Spain, I haven't opened my Bible as much as I used to at camp and I had a moment of guilty shock one day as I realized my Bible had dust on it. The reality of that idiom woke me up a little and I realized this whole thing that had happened. Suddenly without this atmosphere I'd grown accustomed to, I lost my drive. I expected it and didn't go after it. I've realized this and purposed to make some changes.
After having this short convo during the first part of the bus ride, I noticed that one of my friends had finished reading her Bible (which she commendably brought) and was now journaling. I took this opportunity with still 1.5 hours left, to ask her to borrow it and she graciously complied. My soul was filled with Him during that bus ride. The comfy coach bus seats and the rain-threatening clouds made the atmosphere perfect.

I read, contemplated, and had the moments I'd been missing that filled the rest of my day to completeness.
The sun shone brilliantly through in the end signifying a rain-defying day! (we'd all brought rain coats and umbrellas because it was supposed to be a wet couple of days)
We arrived in Toledo at about 10 and drove around the city as a guide talked about the things we were passing. When we got off the bus to begin our day, we followed the guide across a bridge (with a gorgeous view of the city) and THERE is where my second adventure takes place.
So I'm just mindin' my business, listening to the guide as she stood talking with all of us circled around her. Right? As this is happening there's some sort of buzzing and I realize there's a fly or some kind of bug in my hair around my neck. I try to swat it away and all the sudden BAM it stung me! The nerve! Right?! and not just any sting, like a THERE. GOTTCHA- sorta sting. So it's one of those don't-speak-right-now sorts of moments and I'm standing there making faces of pain and confusion (cause I had no idea what to do- I mean, I couldn't just interrupt this woman and I can't just do nothing either!) and my fellow classmates closest to me are just looking at me like I've just become insane or something. Once I guiltily whispered what happened to them, and they tried to help, it caught the attention of Ricardo who mouthed "what happened?" which prompted a mouthing conversation of "I got stung by a bee!" "what?" "yeah. A bee!" all behind this oblivious lady's back. It was weird cause it would usually be behind his back cause he's usually talking... Strange change of roles if I do say so. Anyways, so he comes over and looks (which in turn attracts the attention of the rest of the group) and says there's nothing there and are you sure it was a bee? I'm thinking: "Are you kidding me? Of course I'm sure!" Anyways, he went back over to standing where he was after making sure I wasn't allergic, but a minute later when the same classmates of mine were looking at it (cause there was a mark now)
He came back over and after taking a look himself, started trying to get the stinger out! It was the most funny embarrassing thing ever because: By now none of my classmates are listening or even looking at the guide anymore. They're all watching my professor try to -what looks like pop a zit on my neck! Soooo embarrassing! He asked for a ring and that didn't work... He got a bobby pin and tried that... all the while all my friends are watching this take place and wondering what on earth Ricardo is doing?!/ oblivious guide still talking about Toledo.... yeah. Just picture this. So this hurts like.... a lot and I'm standing there grimacing/laughing because of the absurdity of it all. He finally gives up and the guide stops talking and we continue across the bridge and onto the rest of our tour of the city, all the while everyone asking what happened. Of course this would happen to me. Now my twitter says- Goes to Toledo- get's stung by a bee #badluckerin
The rest of the day passed wonderfully. We toured a historic museum type place where the guide talked about the history of Jews in Spain and the customs/ artifacts there. The other place we toured was a cathedral with gorgeous ornate ceilings, altars, pillars, decked out pope jewelry... ect. and all the while she talked about everything... in Spanish (of course)
and more..... and more... and we got hungrier...and hungrier.... and by the end no one could really listen much. oops?
But!- we got our lunch afterward in a gorgeous plaza and had free time to do what our hearts desired! Shopping in Toledo is what my heart desired and I fulfilled that! I love walking around the little streets going in and out of all the shops looking at things. hmm wonderful time.
Near the end, we stopped in a little café and got some sort of Spanish confection that made my taste buds dance,
and then we finished off our free time with a bit of a photo shoot! haha
The ride back was a nice (now it was raining- perfect for a nap on a comfy coach bus)
When we arrived, we regressed to our perspective houses for a bit, and some of us met at the center to finish off the day with a bit of Spanish Harry Potter 2 (never seen it!)
Overall, a very funny, painful, exciting, satisfying day.
