I've been here for 6 weeks now. Holy macaroni. A friend told me that today we only have 63 days left and time always seems to go faster as it goes on! I'm trying to soak up as much as I can while I'm here.
Some aspirations I have for by the time I leave Spain are as follows:
1. Learn Spanish dishes
-I want to cook an array of different Spanish dishes while I'm here to be all impressive and Spanish when I get home! Already learned 1 and a...half? (explanation in
2. This goal used to be to reach fluency, but now it's to reach a certain unexplainable level that's "fluency" to me.
3. Go to Ireland.
- This is a huge one for me. My 3 places are Spain, Ireland, and Australia. Now I'll have gone to both. I leave for Ireland in just 2 days!!!! Can't wait
4. Buy colored skinny jeans here
-its kind of all they wear. I want to come back with a functioning part of their wardrobe.
5. Go to "El Rey León" (the lion king) in Madrid. Plans are in the process and you really have no idea how excited I am
6. Play my violin in the street
- By far my hardest goal. It's also the one I'll be most proud of if I accomplish it. I need to do it before it gets too cold- so soon. First, I need to go get an application and turn it in and then I just need to do it. The problem is, I don't really practice a ton here. I like practicing in a place no one can hear me and well... there isn't one. I need to somehow figure that out. Also, the thought of playing in the streets where messing up is in front of people is EXTREMELY terrifying. I'm going to make myself if I can, but this goal is hard because it's something I really really really do and don't want to do.
7. Read the book of Acts
-I want to further my faith and larger goal of reading the entire Bible and Acts is what I'm workin' on now I decided. I'm interested in Paul all the sudden and so I'm going to at least read Acts. When I finish that, I'll pick another.
8. Go to a discoteca
- Like a Spanish club, but I'm told the dancing isn't gross like the clubs in the US. It's a huge part of teenage Spanish culture. Now after a failed attempt at going, we know some more about it. People go Thursday night, and Saturday night. And people don't even start to arrive till after 2am. I'm told people REALLY start to arrive at 4am- loco. Tonight we have plans to go around 2 and I'm planning to leave at the latest 4. So we'll compromise! I'll check this one off the list!
9. Grades
- I figure, if I have a lighter load, this will be the semester to spike my GPA up right? I'll try my hardest.
10. Healthiness/ fit
-I want to come back from Spain healthy and lookin' fantastic! I figured that we walk everywhere and I'm living off a Mediterranean diet! However, this dream is slowly dying as I eat Spanish food- aka: fried EVERYTHING including vegetables. Even the salad is like oil and salt with some lettuce! But- it's at least classy and delicious, so that's something.
11. 2 mom skype
- I accomplished this one yesterday! Both my moms talked to each other via skype and I translated! My mom even met my little niece here and two of my host sisters! Such a cool experience!
-Ok. You can all hold me accountable to this list and ask me about it when I get back. I want to have done all of it! Wish me luck!
